MY NAME IS BUFFY TRUPP, AND I’M A LICENSED MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPIST IN CALIFORNIA AND A REGISTERED CLINICAL COUNSELLOR IN BRITISH COLUMBIA.
The roots of the Mindful Fertility Project go back to 2003, when I first began studying the effects of mindfulness and stress reduction techniques on women longing to have children.
Throughout my years of clinical practice I have witnessed many women consistently challenge statistics and triumph to become mothers through the practice of mindful techniques.
Mindfulness is the awareness that arises when we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings in a kind, open, and non-judgmental way. It’s a proven way to reduce stress, which we know can affect your fertility. I love helping women get pregnant and stay pregnant!

A little more about my background:
I completed my master’s degree in Somatic Psychology in 2006 at the California Institute of Integral Studies, with clinical interests in mindfulness and stress reduction. I did post graduate clinical training with Dr. Alice Domar, PhD Executive Director of the Domar Center for Mind-Body Health, and the Director of Mind-Body Services at Boston IVF and Ken Farber, MA, founder of Mindfulness Behavioural Skills Training, in San Francisco.

The Mindful Fertility Project was inspired by both my professional work with mindfulness and infertility, and my own personal journey to motherhood.
I envisioned a growing worldwide sisterhood of empowered women who have decided to take back the reins and try a different approach to their fertility.
That’s how the Mindful Fertility Project was born.

statistics.

High levels of these hormones affect the other
hormones needed to conceive and carry a pregnancy.
And through a mindful process you will begin to realize
that pain and stress are not things we need to run from

I find that when I send my acupuncture patients home with daily self acupressure and yoga to effectively treat their fertility, they get pregnant faster.
Self Acupressure is like acupuncture but you use your fingers and thumbs to stimulate the points instead of needles. It is incredibly effective because you can easily do it by yourself EVERYDAY. And when my patients began to practice EVERYDAY, they experienced incredible results.
In the Mindful Fertility Journal I teach you 4 distinct, clinically proven protocols for the 4 different phases of your cycle.
Phase 1 Self Acupressure and Yoga:
This series of instructional videos for Phase 1 teaches you a powerful protocol for menstruation. Phase 1 is called the blood phase, which begins with the onset of your period. The goal of this phase is to properly shed the uterine lining, by focusing on moving blood and qi (energy). Blood and qi must be flowing in the right direction, which is down and out of your body with a healthy flow. The Phase 1 menses protocol clears the uterus of old blood and tissue. This sets the stage for a fresh, healthy lining to support implantation and pregnancy. It can also help treat smaller fibroids, certain types of ovarian cysts, polyps or reduced vascularization (reduced blood flow) to the lining.
Phase 2 Self Acupressure and Yoga:
This series of instructional videos for Phase 2 is based on a research-proven acupuncture protocol to increase the uterine lining. Phase 2 begins about a week after you start your period and lasts until ovulation. The goal of this phase is to build blood and yin (feminine energy). This highly effective point protocol and yoga series thickens the uterine lining and helps healthy eggs to develop and mature for ovulation.
Phase 3 Self Acupressure and Yoga:
This series of instructional videos for Phase 3 teaches you ovulation protocol. Phase 3 begins with ovulation and lasts for a week following ovulation. Blood and yin (feminine energy) have built to a maximum level and now the body is ready for ovulation. The goal of this phase is warmth and movement to support proper release and unobstructed travel of the egg down the fallopian tube. This ovulation protocol uses points and poses that warms the body, increases blood flow and reduces uterine and fallopian tube contraction. It also supports the hormones needed for ovulation.
Phase 4 Self Acupressure and Yoga:
This series of instructional videos for Phase 4 teaches you the implantation protocol. Phase 4 begins a week after ovulation and ends when you get the first day of your period. The goal of this phase continues to be about warmth, movement, and now building the yang (masculine energy). If implantation took place, then warmth and blood flow will continue to be the main priority in order to create the best environment for the embryo to develop. Implantation protocol delivers fresh blood, oxygen and nutrients to the uterus to nourish the embryo, which helps secure the embryo to the womb. If you are not pregnant, then your body is gathering yang energy to properly shed the uterine lining.
The first time Buffy and I did a workshop together combining mindfulness and yoga/self acupressure it was like finding a missing piece to my fertility protocols. Mindfulness with Buffy added a rich and powerful dimension to the work and made the benefits of yoga and self acupressure even more effective.
Years later, when Buffy approached me with the Mindfulness Fertility Project, I was thrilled because I know that what you do on a daily basis has the greatest outcome on your fertile health.

My name is Elijah Selby and I’m passionate about food because food can change your life. I started dating my now husband when I was 37 and we got married when I was 40. We immediately started trying to get pregnant…but every month I suffered the emotional blow of getting my period. I remained hopeful but it was challenging. In my reading and research I came across the concept in Traditional Chinese Medicine that there is no infertility, just unbalance. This really struck a strong cord with me–I could tell that my body and mind were way out of balance…so I cleaned up my act! I created a nutritional plan for myself that was very clean and healing, and I became very curious about my emotions and things I regularly swept under the rug…
Within four months I was pregnant! I gave birth in April, 2011 to a beautiful and healthy baby boy.
I received Nutritional training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. I also trained with Marc David from the Psychology of Eating Institute. This is where the nutritional theories and the mind/body connection truly clicked for me — and I will help them click for you! I have also studied with Lara Adler, toxins expert and bring that knowledge into my work.
For the Mindful Fertility Journal, I developed a fertility diet corresponding to the unique needs of each specific phase of your cycle.
Phase 1 Nutrition:
These recipes are light and vibrant to maintain energy during this phase while hormones are
at their lowest. In Phase 1 we support healthy liver function as we detox from caffeine and inflammatory foods such as wheat gluten, dairy and sugar and give your body whole food, slow carb solutions that balance hormones and regulate blood sugar.
Phase 2 Nutrition:
Phase 2 recipes minimize carbohydrates as you have lots of energy right now and have lots
of estrogen floating around your body. In Phase two we fortify minerals valuable for fertility such as zinc and magnesium and continue to regulate blood sugar, reduce inflammation and support healthy bacteria and digestion.
Phase 3 Nutrition:
These recipes focus on foods that both support your Luteal Phase and also help you stay balanced and free from sugar and carb cravings. You have rising progesterone in your body now, which keeps the uterine lining in tact. Your estrogen is rising and testosterone rises towards the end of this cycle.
Phase 4 Nutrition:
The recipes for this phase are nutrient dense, deeply nourishing and iron rich to help supply nutrients to the uterus and secure the embryo to the womb.
